Hycolin Announces Latest Brand Ambassador England Rugby Star Courtney Lawes

We are thrilled to announce professional Rugby player Courtney Lawes, is the latest brand ambassador to be working with Hycolin

Courtney, 31, has been performing at the highest levels of the domestic and international game for well over a decade, to date making 300 appearances for club and country. On the field Courtney is renowned for his dynamic and courageous playing style and away from the game he is a devoted husband and a father of 4.

Courtney has impressed rugby supporters from a young age when he started playing for Northampton Saints at just 18-years-old, and he was a key figure in their Aviva Premiership and European Rugby Challenge Cup successes in 2014. He has also been capped 80 times for England, represented his country at two Rugby World Cups, won three Six Nations titles – including a first Grand Slam in 13 years in 2016 – and helped England win a historic 3-0 Test series triumph over the Wallabies in the summer of 2016.

Following a challenging 6 months being out of the game with an ankle injury, Courtney Lawes will make his much-anticipated return to the International game in the opening round of the 2021 Six Nations on Saturday 6th February, where England will play against Scotland at Twickenham.

High performance, taking responsibility, tenacity and hard work are key qualities Courtney has demonstrated throughout his impressive career – all of which are synonymous with Hycolin’s core ethos of assured quality and dependability, making Courtney a natural fit to represent the brand.

Courtney Lawes also joins Hycolin’s impressive roster of elite ambassadors that include two time British racing champion, Abbie Eaton, and Coventry United Ladies Football Club, who Hycolin are supporting throughout the 2020/ 2021 season.

Courtney Lawes says, “I’m delighted to represent Hycolin as a brand ambassador. As a high-performance, market leading brand, Hycolin share my drive, vision and ambition, which is why I wanted to get involved with the business this year. We have some exciting plans ahead and I can’t wait to see what we will achieve together.”

Paul Marsh, Co-Owner and Joint Managing Director at Hycolin, said: “We are thrilled to have Courtney on-board as our newest ambassador. Courtney’s leadership on and off the pitch really impressed us and so we knew he’d be the perfect partner for Hycolin. We’re tremendously proud to be working with him, and we can’t wait to see him return to international rugby this weekend!”

Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Cleaner Now Officially Certified To Kill Covid-19

Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner becomes one of the first cleaning solutions to be proven effective against the SARS-CoV-2 virus which is the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

We are proud to announce that Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner has been tested against the SARS-CoV-2 virus by scientists using the NEN 14675 Standard Method and has been proven and certified to be effective against the Novel Coronavirus that is the cause of COVID-19.

Until now, disinfectant cleaners claiming to be effective against Coronavirus have usually been tested against a surrogate virus that was only similar to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), not the virus that causes COVID-19 itself. Mirius, in conjunction with independent laboratory, Wageningen Bioveterinary Research Institute (WBVR), have tested the Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner against SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19. The Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner was demonstrated to kill over 99% of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in less than 5 minutes contact.

WBVR, working in collaboration with the University of Wageningen in the Netherlands, is a global leader in science and is well-known and respected for its research into infectious diseases, notably in the important discipline of virology. The WBVR collaborates with public and private partners to safeguard animal and public health through prevention, eradication, and control of diseases. Research institutes like the WBVR are understandably deeply engaged in the science of the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve their admirable and very necessary objectives the WBVR routinely handles viruses that are not available to the wider scientific community including laboratories that provide commercial disinfectant (antiviral) product testing services.

Due to the limited availability of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in laboratories around the world, the usual approach to the assessment of ‘antiviral’ disinfectant products is to test the product against surrogate viruses that are used as replacements for the unavailable SARS-CoV-2 virus. However, obtaining an independently generated, empirical result of an antiviral product’s performance against the virus that causes COVID-19 is definitive and the ultimate goal in the context of antiviral disinfectant testing. WBVR have combined Mirius’ bestselling Hycolin Antiviral Disinfectant with the SARS-CoV-2 virus according to the specifications of the NEN 14675 Standard Method in order to measure the inactivation effect of Hycolin on the COVID-19 virus.

Dr Richard Hastings, Hycolins microbiologist and technical lead comments: “We are delighted and honoured to collaborate with the scientists at the Wageningen Bioveterinary Research Institute in order to perform such a novel and important study to better describe the antiviral performance of its Hycolin products. To gain access to the actual SARS-CoV-2 virus is a huge privilege and highlights Mirius’s standing within the biosecurity community, especially as our products are under the scrutiny of world-leading virologists. This study outcome brings additional confidence to Hycolin users as being truly effective against the virological cause of COVID-19. It also demonstrates our commitment to the ongoing global campaign against COVID-19 and the capability of Hycolin to advance the science behind its best-selling products for the benefit of customers.”

Darren Langdon, Managing Director at Hycolin comments: “We are proud to offer consumers this powerful and effective cleaning solution that specifically targets the virus that causes COVID-19. We strive to offer powerful cleaning solutions to consumers at affordable prices, and our new Hycolin Multipurpose Antiviral Surface Cleaner will offer an even safer and effective way to protect homes from COVID-19. We are pleased to have worked with the scientists at the Wageningen Bioveterinary Research Institute in order to deliver this powerful cleaning solution.”

Hycolin is available in stores across the UK including Aldi, Lidl, Savers, Dunnes Stores Ireland.

Hycolin recognised as UK Business Hero

We are pleased to announce that our parent company Mirius and in turn the Hycolin brand, has been recognised by the British Chambers of Commerce in their ‘UK Business Heroes’ campaign. Out of more than 38,000 eligible businesses across Coventry and Warwickshire, Hycolin is one of just 25 businesses to be awarded the prestigious UK Business Hero title.

The campaign launched earlier this year recognises the incredible work that UK businesses are doing, in the most challenging of years. Paying tribute to them and recognising their contributions by awarding the ‘UK Business Heroes Stamp’ demonstrates that the Mirius team has gone the extra mile to support the UK during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Darren Langdon (Commercial Director) – “This recognition would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our teams across all departments, who share a combined passion and understanding of the difference our products make – I am deeply proud of every single one of my colleagues”.

Mirius received a letter from HRH The Countess of Wessex, who has actively supported the British Chambers of Commerce’s Campaign, advising them of their award and thanking them for being a business that has gone the extra mile in recent months.

Steve Quinlan (Mirius C.E.O) – “It is a great honour to have received this recognition from HRH The Countess of Wessex, the British Chambers of Commerce, and the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce. Every member of our work family should be immensely proud of their contribution and the difference they are making in these challenging times”

Hycolin continues to leverage its knowledge and experience in chemical product formulation and manufacture, and is committed to supporting consumers across the UK and around the world in these challenging times.
